Day four of the new job is over, and I can see Friday on the horizon. I am well and truly knackered. It looks like I'll be going into overtime this week, but despite my fatigue, I am really pleased with the job. The daycare is really impressive: top notch facility, very organized and super clean, great staff and two awesome directors. It is already beginning to feel like home. I am getting to know the kids and their personalities. It is so rewarding to hear them laughing and being silly; I didn't realize how much I had missed working with kids. I really believe I'm where I'm supposed to be.
Teagan is loving it there as well, and I'm so glad she is starting to make friends and step out of her Mommy comfort zone. Today she learned how to propel herself on a swing without the help of a push--big accomplishment!
When you work with kids all day, you are bound to hear some really random things, and you are also bound to say things you never thought you would have to utter. Here are some of my favorites from this week:
"Whose underpants are on the bathroom floor?!"
"If you don't stop eating your boogers, I swear, I don't know what I'm gonna do...."
"Nobody is interested in seeing your hiney!"
"Y'all have managed to eat an entire bottle of ranch dressing in the span of ten minutes."
And when things get rough and I'm about to lose my patience, I just go to my happy place in my head and repeat my mantra: WHATEVER, SCREW IT, I'M GOING TO ENGLAND!!
